Today's gold price in Egypt for 24K, 21K and 18K per gram explained — how it is calculated, why your shop charges more, and where to see the live number.
The live, second-by-second gold price for Egypt — 24K, 22K, 21K, 18K and 14K per gram in EGP, plus the Egyptian Gold Pound and silver — is on our home page. It updates in real time, so it always reflects *today's* number, not a stale morning quote.
Egyptian gold prices are derived from the international gold spot price (XAU/USD) converted into Egyptian Pounds using the live USD/EGP exchange rate:
Price per gram (EGP) = (XAU/USD ÷ 31.1035) × USD/EGP × purity
Purity is 99.9% for 24K, 87.5% for 21K and 75% for 18K. That is why the three karats move together — they are the same underlying metal at different purities.
The live price is the *raw metal* value. At the counter you also pay:
So a 21K ring can cost roughly 7–8% above the live 21K gram price.
To estimate any purchase: multiply the live per-gram price for your karat by the weight, then add the spread (and labor cost for jewelry). Our on-site gold calculator does this instantly at the current price.
The live 21K per-gram price in EGP is shown in real time on the home page and updates every 1–2 seconds. It equals the international ounce price converted to EGP and multiplied by 87.5% purity.
The live price is the raw metal value. Shops add the dealer spread (~3.11%) and, for jewelry, the workmanship/masna'iya (~4.45%), which together push the counter price roughly 7–8% above the live gram price.
